Valerie Bostwick is a Ph.D. student in Economics at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Her research interests are in the fields of labor economics and econometrics with a focus on the economics of education.
Valerie's current work uses regional variation in access to high quality colleges to identify major field choice as a signaling device in the labor market for college graduates. She also has a paper forthcoming in The Stata Journal titled "Obtaining Critical Values for Test of Markov Regime Switching," which provides Stata code for a test for Markov regime switching and an application in identifying poverty regimes across countries.
Valerie is working as a postdoctoral researcher at Ohio State University.
