My broad research interests are Labor Economics, Applied Econometrics, and Law & Economics. In particular, the main topic which I study in my PhD thesis is unemployment insurance. In my job market paper, I analyze how unemployment benefits affect the duration of employment spells using data from Brazil. In a theoretical model, I assess the implications of this relationship to the optimal generosity of UI benefits. In another work, I empirically study the consumption smoothing welfare gains from providing unemployment insurance in developing countries, where labor informality is typically high and capital markets are less developed.
