Elizabeth Agey is a graduate student in the Integrative Anthropological Sciences program. Her interests include evolved mate preferences, parent-offspring conflict, arranged marriage, and the ways that resources are gained and distributed through marriage. Elizabeth's current research seeks to test the hypothesis that limiting the freedom to choose mates based on evolved preferences affects offspring fitness and health, an idea that is rarely tested in humans. She is investigating this by examining the differences in fitness, health, and resources between arranged marriage and courtship marriage couples in rural Nepal.
