Congratulations to Dr. Michael Gurven, Broom Center Research Area Director for Biodemography and Evolution, on his recent publication in the Journal Nature Aging. Michael Gurven, a senior author on the paper, finds that chronic inflammation as we age is associated with industrialized lifestyles.
A quote from Michael Gurven provided by the UCSB Current says: “In those (non-industrialized) populations, we noticed that common biomarkers of inflammation weren’t increasing with age.”
