Vedant Koppera is a PhD Candidate in Economics at the University of California, Santa Barbara. His interests include intergenerational mobility, occupational choice, and the analysis of education.
In his current research, he studies racial trends and differences in intergenerational educational mobility in the United States between 1980 and 2013. This study uncovers a significant and substantial decrease in educational mobility among blacks in recent years while remaining stable among whites and Hispanics. His future work includes developing and applying new methods of measuring the extent of skill-based underemployment in the United States.
