Jacqueline Banks is a PhD student in the Geography Department at the University of California, Santa Barbara. She earned her MA in applied statistics at UCSB in 2012 and her BS in statistics with a minor in women's studies at UC Riverside in 2011. As both a statistician and a feminist demographer, her current research focuses on women's empowerment and its supposed relation to fertility transition in West Africa. Jacqueline received a Boren Fellowship in 2015-2016 to live, study, and do research in Dakar, Senegal.
