Congratulations to Dr. Cate Taylor, associate professor of sociology and Broom Research Associate, on her coauthored publication in Research in Social Stratification and Mobility. Cate Taylor and the research team conducted an experimental survey to identify a causal mechanism to explain why occupations with higher percentages of women pay less than occupations with less women. They found that survey respondents were more likely to suggest lower salaries for workers when they worked in an occupation with a high percentage of women compared to occupations that were gender balanced or had higher percentages of men.
